The Importance of Preventive Care

What if there was a way to prevent, or at least minimize, the need for invasive procedures, like dental implants. What if our preventative care tips could save you time and money?

What is preventative care?

Preventative care is what you need to do to avoid serious dental issues. Brushing and flossing are just two steps you can start with at home.

Some of the features of preventative care are given below:

  1. Brush your teeth twice a day and after each meal if possible. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid damaging the enamel, which is the white protective layer on the teeth, Use fluoride-containing toothpaste that can protect teeth against cavities.
  2. Floss at least once before going to bed. Flossing helps you clean areas between teeth that a toothbrush cannot do.
  3. Rinse using mouthwash to clean out gingival crevices beyond the reach of flossing and brushing. It also disinfects your mouth and gets rid of tiny food debris still remaining.
  4. Visit your dentist twice a year for routine checkups to help eliminate the progression of serious illnesses and damage to teeth. Your dentist conducts a visual exam and uses x-rays to make sure your gums, teeth, and bones below the gum line are healthy.
  5. Have teeth cleaned twice a year to remove plaque and tartar that cannot be removed by simply brushing, flossing, and rinsing.
