You Need a Strong Jawbone
Since the implant is designed to replace the roots of your tooth, your jawbone needs to be strong enough to be able to support the implant. During your consultation, our dental team will need to take x-rays of the jawbone to see how much bone deterioration has occurred and whether it’s able to fully support an implant. Significant bone loss doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t get an implant. Our dental team can perform bone grafting surgery to rebuild the jawbone so that it is healthy enough for implants.
You’ll Need to Undergo Minor Surgery
It’s important for our patients to know that they will need to go through at least one minor dental surgery in order to get dental implants. This procedure only takes about 30-40 minutes to place a single dental implant, and it is performed right here in our practice under local anesthesia and sedation to make you feel comfortable.
